The best Railway alternatives in 2026

Last verified 21 September 2026. Antideploy wrote this page, and Antideploy is one of the eight options on it. So every statement about every platform, including Antideploy, comes from that platform's own pricing page or documentation, listed under Sources with the date it was checked. The list is grouped by what each platform is good for rather than ranked, and Antideploy's own limits are set out in full further down. If anything here is wrong or out of date, email antideploy@gmail.com and we will correct it within 48 hours.

The short answer

Railway is good at what it does: several long-running services and their databases in one project, awake by default, with WebSocket connections that can stay open indefinitely. Most people who leave are looking for one of three things instead: a bill that does not move with usage, a free tier that runs an app all month, or a region Railway does not cover.

For a fixed price per instance, look at Render, DigitalOcean App Platform or Heroku. For a free tier that stays on, Northflank's Developer Sandbox does not sleep. For the cheapest small instance, Koyeb and Fly.io both start under $2 a month. For more regions, Fly.io lists 17. Antideploy fits apps a coding agent wrote, on a flat plan price. Coolify runs on your own server.

Why people look for a Railway alternative

Railway's strengths, for balance: services stay awake by default, WebSocket connections are exempt from its request time limits, databases (Postgres, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB and more) are one click, and it runs in regions across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. If none of the reasons above apply to you, it may be the right place already.

How to choose

  1. Do you want a predictable bill? Render, DigitalOcean App Platform, Heroku and Antideploy price by instance or plan. Northflank, Koyeb and Fly.io bill by use, as Railway does.
  2. Does it need to stay on without paying? Northflank's Developer Sandbox does not sleep. Free tiers on Render, Koyeb and Antideploy put idle apps to sleep.
  3. Does it run several services? Render, Northflank and Heroku run web, worker and scheduled processes as separate services or process types. Antideploy runs one web process per app.
  4. Where are your users? Fly.io lists 17 regions and Render five. Antideploy runs in Singapore only.
  5. How much do you want to run yourself? Coolify gives you the whole server; Fly.io gives you machines to configure; the rest are managed platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Does Railway have a free plan?

Yes. Railway's Free plan includes $1 of usage a month, with up to 0.5 GB of RAM, 1 vCPU, 1 replica and a 0.5 GB volume per service. The Hobby plan is $5 a month including $5 of usage, and Pro is $20 a month including $20 of usage.

What is the cheapest alternative to Railway?

For a small instance that runs all month, Koyeb starts at $1.61 a month on a plan with no monthly fee, Fly.io at $1.94 for its smallest machine, and Northflank at $2.70. For free, Northflank's Developer Sandbox stays on, while Koyeb's free instance, Render's free web service and Antideploy's free plan put idle apps to sleep.

Which Railway alternative has predictable pricing?

Render prices by instance, from $7 a month. DigitalOcean App Platform starts at $5 a month per container. Heroku's dynos start at $5 (Eco) and $7 (Basic). Antideploy's Pro plan is a flat ₹799 a month, not billed by usage.

Which Railway alternative can run several services and databases together?

Render and Northflank both run web services, workers, cron jobs and databases side by side, which is the closest to a Railway project. Heroku does the same with dynos and add-ons.
