# ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement How to fix it.

URL: https://antideploy.com/blog/could-not-find-a-version-that-satisfies-the-requirement

pip found no version of a package that fits your requirements.txt. Often the package has no build for the Python version in use.

**What you see**

```
ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement torch==2.0.0
(from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for torch==2.0.0
```

## At a glance

- **What it means**: No matching version
- **Fix one**: Pin Python to 3.12
- **Fix two**: Loosen the version pin
- **Fix three**: Check the package name

## What it means

`requirements.txt` asks for a package at a version, and pip found nothing that fits. The build says the same in one sentence: no version of the package matches what `requirements.txt` asks for. This often means the package does not publish a build for the Python version in use.

## How to fix it

### 1. Try a different Python version

Some packages, such as `tensorflow`, `torch`, `numpy` and `pandas`, publish builds some months after a new Python release. Pin an older Python in a `.python-version` file, for example `3.12`, and deploy again.

### 2. Loosen the version

Replace an exact pin such as `torch==2.0.0` with a range, or remove the pin, so pip can choose a version that has a build.

### 3. Check the name

A typo in the package name gives the same error. Check the spelling against the package's page on PyPI.

**.python-version**

```
3.12
```

## Why it happens

- **An old pin.** A version from an old tutorial that has since been removed, or never had a build for your Python.
- **A new Python.** A package that has not published builds for it yet.
- **A package that only exists locally.** A private or renamed package that pip cannot find.

### Which Python does Antideploy use if I pin nothing?

The builder chooses a default. Pin one in `.python-version`, `runtime.txt` or `pyproject.toml` if your packages need a specific version.

### Does this failed deploy cost anything?

No. Failed deploys never count against your plan.

### How do I see which versions exist?

Open the package's page on PyPI, or run `pip index versions` with the package name. Pick a version from the list that supports your Python.

Each platform page covers one part of Antideploy: what it does, where it stops and the questions people ask. [See the whole platform](https://antideploy.com/platform), or [all the guides](https://antideploy.com/blog).

- [invalid Python version specified: failed to resolve version](https://antideploy.com/blog/python-version-not-available): The builder does not offer the Python version you asked for. Pin one of the versions it lists.
- [ERROR: Failed building wheel for psycopg2](https://antideploy.com/blog/failed-building-wheel): A package had to be compiled and the compile failed. Use a prebuilt version, or pin Python to 3.12.
- [ModuleNotFoundError: No module named](https://antideploy.com/blog/modulenotfounderror-no-module-named): Your code imports a package that is not in requirements.txt. Add it, using the package name.
